The Cobras Cruise Past the Crusaders, 9-0

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The regionally ranked No. 7 Coker men's tennis team cruised past the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey, 9-0 on Sunday (Apr. 7) in Conference Carolinas men's tennis action. The Cobras remain undefeated in league competition with a record of 9-0, and they are 14-4 overall.

After sweeping through doubles with scores of 8-3, 8-0 and 8-1, the Cobras took care of business in singles play. Andre Staab got the win at No. 1 with a pair of 6-1 sets, while Tom Sizeland won at No. 2 with scores of 6-0 and 6-1. At No. 3 William Marrafao picked up two 6-1 victories and James Corfield stretched his singles winning streak to 13 matches at No. 4, winning 6-1 and 6-3. George Handy won at No. 5, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) and Martin Moncayo finished off the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6.

The Cobras will put their untarnished conference record on the line when they take the court for their next match on Thursday (Apr. 11) at home against the Trojans of Mount Olive. The Trojans are also undefeated in conference play with a record of 8-0. The winner of the match will determine the Conference Carolinas regular season champion. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the Coker tennis courts.
