Coker Men's Tennis Shuts Out Shaw 6-0

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Coker men's tennis team shut out the regionally ranked No. 2 Shaw Bears, 6-0 on Wednesday (Apr. 3). The win moves the Cobras 12-4 on the year. 

The Cobras took a 3-0 lead after doubles with Andre Staab and George Handy earning a 9-7 victory at No. 1. Tom Sizeland and William Marrafao picked up an 8-2 at No. 2, while James Corfield and Martin Moncayo earned the doubles sweep with a win by default at No. 3.

In singles play, Corfield extended his singles match winning streak to 11 matches with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4, while regionally ranked No. 12 Staab earned the win at No.1 with scores of 6-2, 6-1. Zach Grooms earned the final victory of the match, winning by default at No. 6.

Coker will return to the court for a Conference Carolinas match on Saturday (Apr. 6) at Erskine College. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
