Coker Shuts Out North Greenville 9-0

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's tennis team stretched their Conference Carolinas winning streak to six matches with a dominating 9-0 victory against North Greenville on Friday (Mar. 29). The Cobras are now 6-0 in conference matches and 10-4 overall.

The match started a little rough for the men, but they managed to win all three doubles matches. Andre Staab and George Handy were victorious at No. 1, 8-5, while Tom Sizeland and William Marrafao pulled out a 9-7 win at No. 2. James Corfield and Martin Moncayo pulled off the sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 3 

The Cobras stepped up the intensity in singles play, shutting out the Crusaders in eight of the 12 sets. Sizeland, Marrafao, and Moncayo all earned straight set victories at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 respectively. Staab picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win at No.1 and Corfield was victorious at No. 4, winning 6-3, 6-0. Handy just missed pitching a shutout at No. 5, winning 6-1, 6-0. 

Coker will take their perfect conference record on the road to Limestone College on Saturday (Mar. 30). The Saints are also undefeated in league play with a record of 4-0. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
