Coker Men Extend Winning Streak to Five with Win Over Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. - The Cobra men's tennis team extended their winning steak to five matches with a  9-0 shutout victory over Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday (Mar. 9). With the non-conference win, Coker improves its record to 7-2 overall.

Andre Staab and George Handy picked up an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while Tom Sizeland and William Marrafao, along with James Corfield and Martin Moncayo picked up a pair of 8-2 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. 

In singles action, Staab was victorious at No. 1, winning 6-4, 6-2 and Sizeland won at No. 2 with scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Marrafao won in straight sets at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0 and Handy got the win at No. 4, winning 6-2, 6-3. Corfield earned a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 5 and  Moncayo completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6.

The Cobras return to action on Sunday (Mar. 10) in a Conference Carolinas match at Pfeiffer at 1 p.m.
