SUMTER, S.C. – The Coker College men's team advanced to the Semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Tournament with a 5-4 win over King, but lost to Limestone College, 5-0 in the semis on Friday night.
Even though they lost, the Cobras made history by advancing to the semifinals for the first time in the program's history.
Wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, gave the Cobras an early 2-1 advantage in the King match. Leonardo Lima pulled out a three set win at No. 1 singles to put the Cobras up 3-1, while Manel Estruga and James Corfield gave the Coker the win with victories at No. 3 and No. 4.
The Cobras finish the season in fifth place in the conference standings with a record of 6-4. They were 9-13 overall.
