Cobras Start the Season with 5-4 Win over North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Like their female counterparts, the Cobra men's tennis team also opened their 2012 season with a win. They defeated the North Greenville Crusaders 5-4 on Tuesday evening. The win marks head coach Tom Simpson's first victory as a collegiate men's coach.

The Cobras took the first two doubles sets to start the match with Leonardo Lima (Brazil) and Manel Estruga (Spain) picking up a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles. Then Guillermo Aylon (Spain) and James Corfield (New Zealand) won at No. 2 doubles 8-3.

Coker capped off their victory with a come from behind win by Lima at No. 1 singles 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Corfield picked up a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles and then there was a 6-2, 6-3 victory by Estruga at No. 3 singles. 

The Cobras will be back on the courts on Wednesday for a match at home against North Georgia starting at 3 p.m.
