HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men’s tennis team picked up a non-conference win on Wednesday as they defeated Benedict College 8-1. The win improves the Cobras to 4-4 on the year.

The Cobras started the match with three straight wins in doubles play with Tycho Lamberigts (Netherlands) and Manel Estruga (Barcelona, Spain) winning 8-0 at No.1 doubles, Leonardo Lima (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Juan Vallejo-Gonzalez (Quito, Equador) won at No. 2 doubles 8-3 and Ricardo Perez (Corpus Christi, TX) and Evan Schreiner (Seneca, S.C.) won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.

Coker then won five of their six singles matches, including winning eight of their 13 sets by scores of 6-0 or 6-1.

The Cobras will waste no time before returning to the courts as they will take on Bethune-Cookman University tomorrow in Sumter, S.C. at 5:00 p.m.
