DUE WEST, S.C. – For the second time in as many matches, the Cobra men’s tennis team picked up a 5-4 win this time over Conference Carolinas opponent Erskine College on Saturday afternoon. That makes three straight 5-4 decisions for the Coker men with the last two going in favor of the Cobras.

In their last match against Newberry the Cobras had to win matches at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 in order to win, but this time the match was tied at four apiece with just freshman Tycho Lamberigts (Netherlands) left to play. Without hesitation Lamberigts stepped up to the challenge winning the first set 6-3. He lost the second set 4-6, but with his teammates cheering him on he fought back to win the third and final set 6-0 to give the Cobras the 5-4 victory.

James Corfield (Auckland, New Zealand) picked up his third straight win of the week in singles play with a 7-6, 7-6 win at No. 1 singles, also earning wins in singles play were Manel Soler (Barcelona, Spain) at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1) and Lamberigts at No. 6.

The Cobras other two victories of the day came at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The duo of Corfield and Guillermo Aylon (Zaragoza, Spain)  won 8-5 at No. 1 and Juan Vallejo-Gonzalez (Quito, Equador) and Soler won at No. 2 doubles, 9-7.

The Cobras will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Lees-McRae College at home in a dual match with the Coker women starting at 3:00 p.m.
