Hartsville, SC- The Cobra men’s tennis team opened their 2008 campaign with a road loss to the 21st ranked Patriots of Francis Marion University by a score of 9-0. In the match, the Cobra’s came out firing but were unable to fight off the war torn Patriots.

In doubles action, the doubles pair of Danny Nash (Hilton Head, SC) and Tyson Thompson (Lenoir, NC) put in a valiant effort against the #11 ranked doubles team in the nation but came up short falling by a score of 8-4. In singles play, freshman Jeremiah Dye (Summerville, SC) had the best showing falling in a tough match by a score of 6-3, 6-3.

The match was a good opener in helping the Cobra’s get ready for their conference opener against another nationally ranked opponent in Anderson University; Match is scheduled for Friday February, 8 at 3:00PM on the Cobra tennis courts.
