Hartsville, SC- The Cobras fell short on Monday afternoon as they lost to Lees McRae 5-4.  The Cobras needed to win to clinch the 5th spot in the CVAC tournament, but came up one match short.  The Cobras went down 2-1 as senior Tim Morton and junior Tyson Thompson picked up a win at No.3 doubles, 8-5.

 

Senior Duncan Grew played one of the best matches of his career as he beat Shaun Sumner, who had currently been unbeaten in conference play.  Monday was Morton’s last home match as he fought hard losing a close first set 7-6 and fell short in the second 6-2.  The other two wins came from freshman James Schroeder and senior Dustin Yager.  Schroeder beat Romulus Teague 6-3,6-3 and Yager cruised 6-1, 6-4 over Charley Whiteley.

 

The Cobras next matches come at the CVAC tournament this weekend in Sumter, SC at the Palmetto Tennis Center.  They will be the 6th seed and will face the 3rd seed, Barton College on Friday.
