Hartsville, SC- The Coker Cobras opened up their season with a great win over the Erskine Flying Fleet.  The Cobras went up 2 matches to 1 as Danny Nash and Dustin Yager played massive winning 8-1.  The Cobras also won at 3 doubles as Tyson Thomson and Tim Morton won 8-3. With the 5-4 victory, Coker is 1-0 on the season.

 

Tim Morton brought in the first victory in singles with a convincing 6-4, 6-0 win at number two singles. The Cobras, however, went down 4 matches to 3 as Erskine won at positions 3, 5, and 6. The Cobras would not be defeated, James Schroeder lost the first set 1-6, but the freshman fought back winning the next two sets 6-2, 6-1.  The match decider came down to the number 1 singles match.  The Cobras number 1, Duncan Grew, also lost a close first set 6-7.  He then fought back to win the second set 6-3.  The match between the two teams would now come down to a third and deciding set.  Grew fought and earned two early breaks of serve going up 4-1.  He would then serve the match out 6-4 giving the Cobras a win in their season as well conference debut.
