Hartsville, SC – Coker Men’s Tennis opened their season with a 6-3 win over Johnson C. Smith University. The Cobras led 2-1 after doubles and went on to win 4 out of 6 singles matches to start the spring season with a win.

 

Tim Morton and Tyson Thompson put their foot down at 3 doubles with a comprehensive 8-0 win. Dustin Yager and Danny Nash played well to take an 8-5 win at number two doubles.

 

Duncan Grew came out firing in singles and opened his singles match with a 6-1 first set win. He held on in a tight second set for a 6-1 7-6 victory. Morton came from behind at 3 singles to earn an important 3-6 6-2 6-4 win at three singles.

 

The final two singles wins from Coker came from Danny Nash at 4 singles who played well in a 6-1 6-3 win. Hunter Batts also came from behind to win in 3 sets at number 6 singles 4-6 6-4 (10-7)

 

The Cobras move to 1-0 for the young season and next play at Coastal Carolina University starting at 7pm on Friday, February 12th.
