The Coker Men's and Women's tennis teams recently took part in the CVAC Individual Championships hosted by Barton College. The tournament featured 21 of the 22 teams in the CVAC tennis conference including the men's and women's teams from Coker College, coached by new coach Alvin Cheng.

In the Men's tournament, current CVAC champions
Anderson College won at singles flights 2 and 6. Hosts Barton College took away the 3rd, 4th and 5th flight men's singles titles. Lees McRae College won at number 1 singles.

Hunter Batts pulled off the biggest win of the tournament for the Cobras where he defeated
Anderson College in the 6th flight singles for his first conference singles win. Coker's number 7 singles player avenged two previous losses to the same opponent to defeat him in straight sets, 6-3 6-2.

Elsewhere, Matt Byford reached the quarter finals of 1st flight singles with a straight sets win over Belmont Abbey before falling to the number 1 seed from
Anderson. Duncan Grew reached the quarter finals of second flight singles after a tough 3 set win over Lees McRae's number 2 singles player. Tim Morton also reached the last 8 of his flight where he fell to Anderson College's number 3 player. Morton went on to finish 3-1 in singles play after 2 more singles wins in the back draw. Danny
Nash reached the quarter finals of the fourth flight with victory over Lees McRae before falling to
Anderson College's number four player. Tyson Thompson joined Batts in the quarter finals of the 6th flight where he also fell at the quarter final
stage to
Anderson.

In doubles, Dustin Yager and Nash reached the semi finals in the third flight doubles. They defeated Lees McRae before falling to the number 1 seeds from
Anderson. Byford and Grew combined in the 1st flight doubles where they won the back draw defeating Erskine and Queens University's number 1 pairs.
