BELMONT, NC — Coker’s tennis teams traveled to Belmont Abbey Thursday afternoon and pulled of an impressive sweep over the Crusaders.  The men won 7-2 and are 3-2 on the year, while the women moved to 3-3 with a 9-0 win.   

Coker’s men also played well in a well-deserved victory.  Matt Byford/Essex, UK and Duncan Grew/Bath, UK won 8-4 at number one singles and the team of Tim Morton/Surrey, UK and Tyson Thompson/Lenoir, NC cruised to an 8-2 win at number-three doubles.  After grinding out a 7-5 win in the first set, Byford eased to a 6-1 second set win in the singles first flight.  Grew won 6-4, 6-0 and Morton battled to a 6-4, 6-2 win at number-three singles.  Danny Nash/Hilton Head, SC earned a 6-1, 6-1 win and Thompson took the sixth-flight 6-0, 6-0.
