Cobras and Lions Play to a 2-2 Draw

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's soccer team opened the 2014 season with a 2-2 draw against the Emmanuel College Lions in a non-conference match on Thursday (Sept. 4).

The Cobras were first to strike, taking an early 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Juan Arreola with an assist from Jordan Snell. The Lions answered just minutes later with an equalizer from Martin Mitreski and Alex Wright.

Coker regained the one goal advantage in the closing minutes of the first half when a Snell header found the back of the net off a cross from David Arensdorf.

The score remained 2-1 in favor of the Cobras until Jake Young's shot from midfield found it's way past Kyndle Cobb, tying the game at two midway through the second half.

Although the Cobras had several opportunities, they blasted 31 total shots in the match; they were unable to score as the game ended in a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes of action.

The Cobras will return to the pitch on Saturday (Sept. 6) at home against the Panthers of Florida Tech. The non-conference match is set to kick-off at 7 p.m. at the Coker Soccer Field.
