Cobras to Square Off with Local Rival Francis Marion

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's soccer team will return to the field on Wednesday (Sept. 18) to face local rival Francis Marion University in a non-conference match-up.  The match will be broadcast live online at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras, who are 1-1-1, will be looking to pick up their second win of the 2013 season following a 2-2 tie with Lincoln Memorial University last Saturday (Sept. 14) in their first-ever South Atlantic Conference game. The Cobra offense will continue to rely on senior forward Daniel Jackson, who has racked up two goals in three matches.

The Patriots enter the game with a record of 2-0-1, and are coming off an upset victory against nationally ranked No. 4 Flagler College (3-1). Freshmen midfielder Shahin Hemat leads the Patriots with two goals and an assist through three matches. Currently, FMU is ranked No. 7 in the NSCAA Southeast Region Poll.

The Cobras defeated the Patriots 1-0 in double overtime last season.

Kick-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the match are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students. Coker will also be hosting YMCA Night during the match, with all members of the Hartsville YMCA receiving free admission with their membership card.
