No. 18 Cobras Fall of No. 5 Saints in Double-OT

ST. AUGUSTINE'S, Fla. – Seniors Noah Lascell and Niko Tirkkonen each found the back of the net, but it was not enough as the No. 18 ranked Coker Cobras lost 3-2 in double-overtime to the No. 5 Flagler Saints in men's soccer action on Saturday night.

It was a tightly contested and physical match from start to finish with a combined 35 fouls and seven cards issued.

Flagler as first to strike, netting a goal in the 36th minute taking a 1-0 lead into the break. Just two minutes into the second half the Saints made it 2-0, but Coker was not ready to give up. The Cobras fought their way back, first with a goal from Lascell off a free kick in the box in the 70th minute. Then Tirkkonen evened the match at 2-2 with a header off a cross from Tyler Staub.

The game remained deadlocked through the first extra period, but Flagler was able to net their third and final goal in the 104th minute.

Coker (1-1) will be back in action for their first home match of the season at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4 against Florida Tech.
