HARTSVILLE, S. C. – A goal by Flagler’s Zach Shanahan after just over a minute of the first overtime period gave the regionally ranked #3 Saints of Flagler a 1-0 win over the #8 ranked Coker Cobras in a non-conference men’s soccer match.

Both teams showed exceptional defense throughout the game, but Flagler held a sizable advantage on the offensive end of the field as they outshot the Cobras 19-4 in the match.

The Cobra defense played stellar for entire game with defensemen Marc Mergena (Port-au-Prince Haiti) and Atticus Lum (Advance, N.C.) holding down the back line, while goalkeeper James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.) had three saves on the night.

In addition to Shanahan’s goal, Flagler’s Will Frandsen and Joseph Toby each had three shots to lead the Saints offense.

Coker will return to the pitch on Saturday, when they take on Young Harris College in a non-conference match at 1:00 p.m. at the Coker College Soccer Field.
