MURFREESBORO, NC- In the 109th minute of a tied 2-2 match between the Coker Cobras and the Chowan Hawks, Coker’s Don Jackson/Brandenton, FL, gave the Cobras a 3-2 victory, when he netted the game winning goal off a rebound from a Matthew Jarrett/Rowell, GA shot.

The win improves Coker to 2-1 overall, while Chowan drops to 1-3 on the year.

Chowan got the scoring started in the 13th minute when Alex Kinnon took a free kick and dropped it into the back of Coker's goal to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.  The Cobras tied the game in the 34th minute, when Jarrett found the back of the net.  Five minutes Ali Abdi to put the Hawks up 2-1.  Then in the 65th minute Coker's Mike Crook/Bradenton, FL, tied the game at two thanks to an errant Chowan pass.

The Hawks and Cobras went back and forth in regulation with neither team being able to net the winning goal.  The first overtime went quickly with no team putting a goal on the board.  However, in the second overtime the game got intense.  After a missed penalty kick for the Cobras and two more open net attempts Coker was finally able to cash in the winning goal.

Coker returns to action tomorrow as they continue their travels in North Carolina, with a match against Division I High Point University. The match starts at 6:00 p.m.
