Hartsville, SC- This is a big week for football fans around the country as they prepare for the Super Bowl, but not everyone will be in front of their big screens with endless tables of food, so people at much less fortunate. It is those less fortunate people that prompted Coker College’s “football” team to do something.

The Coker College Men’s Soccer Team joined the First Presbyterian Church of Hartsville in the S-O-U-P-E-R Bowl of Caring this week. Players collected canned foods and non-perishable food items from around Coker’s campus and the Hartsville community and made a donation to the First Presbyterian Church’s food bank.

“It is great to see the turnout of donations from the Coker community,” said Head Coach Robert Lane. “As a team we are very excited to be a part of this effort, but it was more than just the men’s soccer team, it was a campus wide venture, with donations coming from faculty, staff and students alike.”

Coach Lane and the rest of the Coker Men’s Soccer Team would like to thank all those who helped with the S-O-U-P-E-R Bowl for Caring.
