GAFFNEY, S.C.-- The Limestone College men's soccer team got a 2-0 win over Coker College on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone improves to 4-3-1 in the conference (8-4-1 overall) as the Cobras stand at 2-7 in the league (5-11 overall).

 

Saturday was Senior Day for Limestone as the Saints recognized Giancarlo Rodriguez (Bluffton, S.C.), Ryan Robinson (Snellville, Ga.), Ben Modeste (West Yorkshire, England), and Kwadwo Frempong (Webster, Mass.)

 

Michael McEmerson (Glasgow, Scotland) dribbled the ball through the box to score the first goal of the contest in the 50th minute to give Limestone the 1-0 lead. Modeste put the Saints up 2-0 with 3:17 left to play.

 

“Today’s win was a great way to celebrate Senior Day,” said Limestone Head Coach Eric Alsop. “Ben got his first Limestone goal to put us up 2-0, and his goal was the results of fellow senior Giancarlo Rodriguez bringing the ball in.

 

“It was good to get a clean sheet for Ryan,” Alsop continued. “K really gave us a lift when he came into the game In the first half. I want to thank our seniors for working so hard for us during their time at Limestone.”

 

Coker goalkeeper Joel Tyson (Irmo, S.C.) had three saves in the contest while Ryan Robinson (Snellville, Ga.) also had three for the Saints.

 

Limestone out-shot Coker 16-7 and had 5 corner kicks to the Cobras' 1.

 

Limestone travels to Due West, S.C., on October 17 to face Erskine at 7 p.m.
