Hartsville, SC- Despite a late push, the Cobra Men’s soccer team was unable to erase an early lead, and fell to the #7 ranked Bobcats of Lees McRae 3-2. Lees McRae used three first half goals to put the game just out of reach of the Cobras. The Bobcats got on the board in the 15th minute as a Coker defensive mistake led to an own goal and 1-0 Bobcat Lead. Sam Sharples doubled the lead one minute later with a goal from about 6 yards out. The bobcats finished off the scoring in the first half when Lee Squires found the back of the net in the 39th minute.

Despite trailing 3-0 to start the 2nd half, the Cobras battled back and had chances to win the contest. The Cobras were put in another hole, as Jake Wyman was issued a red card in the 56th minute. However, the Cobras used it as motivation and applied pressure to Lees McRae in all phases of the game. In the 70th minute, Matt Jarrett was able to connect on a Doug McMahen corner to lower the deficit to two. Six minutes later, Jarrett added his second goal of the night, as he finished off a cross from Colin Ryan on a direct kick. Over the final 15 minutes, the Cobras were unable to find the back of the net for the equalizer and suffered their second straight conference lost.

With the loss, the Cobras fall to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in Conference Carolinas action. While the #7 Bobcats improve to 9-1-1 and 5-1 in Conference Carolinas play.
