Hartsville, SC- When it rains, it pours, and it rained on the Coker soccer teams Tuesday night, as both teams lost to UNC-Pembroke in collegiate soccer.

The men’s game was a very physical contest that saw UNC-Pembroke defeat Coker 2-0. Both goals were scored off of penalty kicks; the first was scored by Pembroke’s John Cooper and the second by Jose Sanchez. Even though he took the loss, Coker’s keeper Aaron Osteen/Black Mountain, NC, had six saves on the night. The defense led by junior Justin Potter/Houston, TX, and freshman Armando Gonzalez/Houston, TX, played excellently. Coker drops to 2-2 on the year, while UNC-Pembroke improves to 4-2-1.

Both Cobra teams take to the field again on Saturday, September 17, against CVAC opponent Belmont Abbey. The women’s game kicks off at 1 p.m. at the Coker Soccer Field, followed by the men’s competition beginning at 3 p.m.
