Hartsville, SC- The Coker soccer teams played two hard fought games, but could only come up with one win against Lees-McRae College in collegiate soccer Saturday afternoon.

The men’s game brought a lot of hard play and great plays on both ends of the field, but the Coker men came up short losing 2-1 in overtime. The Cobras got off to a quick start getting their goal three minutes into the game from freshman Chris Freeman/Clemmons, NC. Freeman stole the ball right out from under the Lees-McRae keeper and put it in the back of the net, but unfortunately 10 minutes later Lees-McRae would make a great play of their own to tie it at one. Rocky Bravo/Hickory, NC scored on a pass from Sebastian Abirached/ Coral Springs, FL with a diving header past Coker keeper Aaron Osteen/Black Mountain, NC. The game remained tied at one for the remainder of regulation time, but two minutes into overtime Bravo struck again, giving Lees-McRae the victory. With the loss Coker is 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the CVAC.

The Coker soccer teams take to the field again on Tuesday, September 13, against the UNC Pembroke Braves at home starting with the women’s game at 5 p.m. and followed by the men at 7 p.m.
