Men’s Lacrosse Welcomes Catawba for Fangs United Game

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College men's lacrosse team (3-3) will welcome the visiting Catawba College Indians to the friendly confines of the Coker Athletic Field Thursday (Mar. 15) afternoon in South Atlantic Conference Action at 3:30 p.m. The Cobras will be taking on the Indians in the Fangs United game. Heading into tomorrow's contest, Rylee Marsh and Matt Murphy lead the Cobras on the offensive end with 15 points each. Marsh has buried seven goals and has dished out a team-best eight assists, while Murphy has tallied a team-high 10 goals and has added five assists. Marsh's season total in assists is good for tenth in the South Atlantic Conference. Irizarry trails Marsh and Murphy with 13 points, recording eight goals and five assists, while Joe Venazio has logged seven points on the season.

Justin Hopkins, DeShaun Ormond, and Charles Stafford have been ground ball machines for the Navy and Gold, scooping up 24, 17, and 16 ground balls, respectively. Defensively, Ormond has caused a team-best 11 turnovers, good for sixth in the conference, while James Brugger has added nine for the eighth best mark in the SAC. In between the pipes, Chris Hagy has accumulated 61 saves and has a 52.6 save percentage. Additionally, the freshman goalkeeper has a respectable 9.59 goals against average, which is the fourth best mark in the conference.

Catawba enters tomorrow's contest with a 3-3 record. Dalton Cook leads the Indians offensively with 24 points off of 16 goals and eight assists.

As mentioned, opening face off is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Coker Athletic Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
