Cobras Host Chowan in Season Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's lacrosse team will open up their season by hosting the Chowan University Hawks Saturday (Feb. 18) evening at 6:30 p.m. on the Coker Athletic Field. Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras, under the direction of fourth-year head coach David Olliver, were picked eighth in the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Preseason Poll. The Navy and Gold will lean on their talented defense this season led by All-SAC Honorable Mention defensive midfielder Patrick Timothee and defenseman Tyler Kraemer. Timothee is a dynamic defensive midfielder that can shut down the opposition's best offensive player and Kraemer will lead a tough defensive unit.

The offense will look different this year, as three all-conference performers were lost to graduation. However, coach Olliver is optimistic about some of his young offensive players. "Offensively, we have a lot of young talent that could surprise people this season," said Olliver.

Chowan made their inaugural season debut on Saturday, Feb. 11 when they fell to Saint Leo University 25-5. Nick Lavoy led the Hawks offensively with two goals in the game.

Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free to all Coker faculty, staff, and students.
