Four Cobras Named to Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Four members of the Coker College men's lacrosse team have been selected as all-conference performers by the South Atlantic Conference, it was announced today.

Leading the way was attack Mike Martiello, who was tabbed as a first-team selection. Attack Shane Wilson was named to the All-SAC second team, while midfielder Josh Smith and specialist Patrick Timothee were named to the honorable mention team.

Martiello, a senior attack from Westbury, N.Y., had a record-setting season for the Navy and Gold. He found the back of the net 30 times, to go along with a team-high 36 assists. His 66 points this season are a Coker single-season record and good enough for second in the South Atlantic Conference. His 36 assists were also a Coker single-season record and second in the SAC, while his 30 goals ranked him seventh. This is the third-straight regular season All-SAC accolade Martiello has earned.

Mike is a business administration major and is the son of Denise and Joseph Malone and Joseph Martiello.

Wilson, a senior attack from Westbury, N.Y., scored a team-high 47 goals this season for the Cobras, while dishing out four assists. His 47 goals are not only good enough for tops in the SAC, but are a single-season Coker record. Wilson is also fourth in the conference with 51 total points this season. Wilson was also named the SAC Offensive Player of the Week for the week of April 18-24. This is the second-straight All-SAC award Wilson earned, as he was a preseason second-team selection this season.

He is a sports management major and is the son of Eileen Wilson.

Smith is a senior midfielder hailing from Mendon, Mass., scored 13 goals and dished out 10 assists for a 23-point season. Smith also scooped up 48 ground balls and won a team-high 73 face offs. This is the third-straight All-SAC selection for Smith.

Josh is a physical education major and is the son of Cory Armstrong and Jon Smith.

Timothee, a junior midfielder from Plantation, Fla. This season he scooped up 35 ground balls, caused 20 turnovers and scored one goal. His 20 caused turnovers were also good enough for fourth in the SAC. This is the first all-conference accolade for Timothee.

Patrick is the son of Laurttha and Noufrand Timothee and is a business administration major.

This is the third straight season the Cobras have had four or more players named to the All-SAC teams.

The Cobras will be back in action on Tuesday (Apr. 26) when they take on the visiting Tusculum College Pioneers in the SAC Men's Lacrosse Championship Quarterfinals. Opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
