Campos Leads Charge in SAC Loss to Mars Hill

MARS HILL, N.C. – Andy Campos tallied four points on two goals and two assists in the Coker men's lacrosse team's 17-7 South Atlantic Conference loss to Mars Hill University on Saturday (Apr. 12).

Rounding out the scoring for the Navy and Yellow was Mike Martiello, Ryan Maurer, John Bretton, Mike Maresca and Shane Wilson, who all found the back of the net once. Timothy Smith finished the afternoon with one assist.

Sean Buff led the Coker defense with four ground balls and one caused turnover, while Tim Ryan made 13 saves in 60 minutes of action.

The Cobras would come out slow offensively in the first period, but a few late second period goals would trim the Lions' lead to 10-4 heading into halftime. The second half would see the Navy and Yellow's offensive woes continue as the Cobras only managed three second half goals, while Mars Hill tallied seven to capture a 17-7 victory.

Coker (4-3 SAC) is currently fifth in the SAC standings and will need Catawba to lose in its final game against Lenoir-Rhyne to secure the fourth and final spot in the 2014 Food Lion SAC Men's Lacrosse Championship.
