Ryan Earns SAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors for Second Time

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College men's lacrosse player Tim Ryan has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today. The award marks the fourth time a Cobra lacrosse player has received a SAC weekly award and is Ryan's second after receiving the honor for his play during the week of March 3-9.

In Coker's lone game of the week against Brevard, Ryan was dominant between the pipes allowing just three goals in an eventual 18-4 Cobras victory. Ryan's three goals allowed were a season low, and he finished the match with 12 saves – stopping 80-percent of Brevard's shots-on-goal. He also added five ground balls and one caused turnover.

On the season, Ryan averages 12.45 saves per game and ranks second in the SAC with 137 saves. His 137 saves are already good for a Coker men's lacrosse single-season record, marking the second record the goalie has broken this season.

A junior from Glocester, R.I., Ryan is a criminology major. He is the son of Jane and Bob Ryan.
