Coker Comes up Short Against Florida Tech

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Steven Marciano (Shirley, N.Y.) recorded a hat trick with an assist as the Coker lacrosse team came up short in an 11-9 loss to Florida Tech on Friday night.

The Cobras rallied from a 7-4 deficit at halftime, cutting the Panther lead to just one (9-8) with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. FIT added a pair of goals over the next six minutes taking an 11-8 lead. Coker added their ninth goal of the game in the final minute of play.

Keith LaClair (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) netted two goals and handed out an assist, earning his 20th goal of the season. C.J. Bogue (Jupiter, Fla.) also scored two goals, while Adam Zinsmeister (Annapolis, Md.) and John Bretton (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) had a goal with an assist each. Ryan Vento (Bellmore, N.Y.) also added three assists for the Cobras.

Christian Stevens (Mooresville, N.C.) made seven saves between the pipes.

The Cobras will hit the road for their next two games when they head to the sunshine state to take on Florida Southern on Saturday, March 31 and Saint Leo University on Sunday, April 1.
