Overall, Coker University Men's Golf had a strong performance in the third round at Orange County National - Crooked Cat. The team showed resilience and determination, with several players finishing in the top 25.

Coach Hackney had this to say "After having the lead for 36 holes, I think it's safe to say we were all disappointed to finish in a tie for 5th place. Thought the guys were ready to go. Didn't appear to feel any pressure, but it was one of those days where we never got anything going, but that's golf. The big difference between the first 36 holes and today was we played the par 5s at 20 under with 4 eagles, whereas today, we just had 15 total birdies between 5 guys.

In a field of 9 teams that will likely have 8 of those in the top 20 at the end of the year, we knew we would have to go really low at least one round, which we didn't do, although we were going deep in both the first and second rounds before finishing 3 under at the end of the day Monday. The top few teams really went deep today. That, coupled with the fact we made 6 double bogeys today, is what created the separation between us and the champion Florida Southern.

Transfer Aaron Teece was our leader today making 2 birdies and 1 bogey for a 71. Senior Jonathan Hallinger finished off a really nice tournament with a round of 74, which put him at 3-under total at T4th.

I think we can  take a lot of positives from this first tournament, especially since we played without our super senior ace, Killian Ryan. It was great to see the guys battle with some top-notch schools from Florida, and I can't wait to see what we do in our tournament next week in Virginia."
