Coker Finishes Up At the Tennessee River Rumble

Coker Finishes Up At the Tennessee River Rumble

Lenoir City, TN- Coker headed to Tennessee to take on a very talented field felled with five nationally ranked teams. The Cobras finished in 6th place out of 20 teams. Coker finished above multiple powerhouse schools in Division ll golf.

This was an excellent performance this week by our guys against an incredible field that included seven teams in the top 18 in the country. I thought we battled hard all week and put up some really good numbers when our games were firing on all cylinders, and yet we were able to recover when we hit some errant shots. We came in here with the goal of knocking off a bunch of the teams that were ahead of us in the region. We were able to do that, along with knocking off some nationally ranked teams so we should move up in the regional and national rankings this week. The Cobras topped No. 1 Anderson, No. 12 Missouri-St. Louis, No. 27 Limestone, and No. 30 Lander.

These Cobras are really playing some good golf right now. In any sport, it is important to peak at the right time, and I really feel we are hot heading into the SAC Championships in two and a half weeks.
Killian hit 12 fairways and had a great wedge game today in a round of 69. He had four birdies, including two of his last four to finish 13th in a fantastic field. He also went 1 under on his final three as we completed a suspended round two early Tuesday to help us fire 1 under as a team.
We shot 3 over in round one behind Fred Tindale's 68, when he hit 16 greens and birdied two par 3s. Tindale took 17th place at a 1-under total...68, 72, 75.
After a 287 in round two, we shot even (288) in the third round, when Caleb Tidd matched Ryan's 69 with five birdies. He also hit 10 approach shots inside 15 feet. Tidd finished 28th with rounds of 76, 72, 69.
Jonathan Hallinger hit 27 of 42 fairways and carded rounds of 73, 72, 78. Derek McGlaughlin posted eight birdies and an eagle in rounds of 76, 75, 75.
This was a complete team effort against a sensational field, so we are trending upward at the right time.
