Men's Golf Finishes Round Two of SAC Championship

CHUCKEY- Tenn. - The Coker University men's golf team completed round two of the South Atlantic Conference Championship hosted at Graysburg Hills Golf Club in Chuckey, Tenn.. The men are competing against some of the top ranked teams in the nation.

"It was a real battle out there today in the high winds. It blew 20 to 30 miles an hour most of the day with even higher gusts but still some players were able to post some really good scores, which was impressive. We just didn't have anybody go real low today, which was the case with the teams that are in the lead," said Head Coach John Hackney.

Coker currently sits in eighth as a team shooting 294 (+6) today.

Fred Tindale currently sits tied for 13th, Tindale shot a 76 (+4) and sits at 144 (E) overall. Jonathan Hallinger sits tied for 17th after shooting 74 (+2) today and a 145 (+1) overall.

Killian Ryan shot a 71 (-1) today and a 148 (+4) overall. Coleman Bess shot a 73 (+1) and 149 (+5) overall. Caleb Tidd shot a 83 (+11) and a 155 (+11).

"Killian had a nice bounce-back with a one-under round that almost included a double eagle on the 1st hole, where his approach shot bounced off the flag stick. He was then able to tap in for an eagle. He added birdies at 15 and 16 to finish under par,  which was nice. Coleman Bess turned in another good round with 2 birdies and 3 bogeys for 1-over 73, which was nice to see from our lone senior. Johnny Hallinger had 2 birdies and 4 bogeys in his round and so did Fred Tindale, but Fred (tied for 13th overall at even par) was victimized by a double bogey on the par 3 8th, which was playing extremely difficult as a downhill shot to a green guarded by water and high winds."

"We're just gonna go really hard tomorrow and see if we can get ourselves in that top 3. You never know what can happen. This is a talented team and they can all go under par, so if the perfect storm happens tomorrow we can go stampeding towards the top of the leaderboard. That is our goal."

Coker is back in action tomorrow for the final round of the SAC Championships at 11 o'clock a.m. with live coverage at www.cokercobras.com
