Men's Golf Takes Down Ranked Opponents at Hurricane Invitational

ALBANY, Ga- The Coker University men's golf team wrapped up play at the Hurricane Invitational where they defeated several ranked teams.

Coker finished tied for sixth overall in the tournament.

Killian Ryan and Fred Tindale both placed tied for 17th, shooting a 218 (+2) overall. Caleb Tidd finished the tournament shooting a 220 (+4). Jonathan Hallinger shot a 222 (+6) and Michael Finnegan finished shooting a 230 (+14) overall.

"I believe we are continuing to get better with every tournament left," saidt John Hackney.

"We had an almost perfect round going in the 2nd round this week but just didn't finish it off but today when the chips were down and we were trying to hold off a bunch of teams the guys really played solid on the last 4 holes.. As opposed to the 2nd round, when we were 7 over on our last 4 holes And fell 5 spots in the standings, today when it was getting tight down the finish, we were able fire off a few birdies and make some critical pars and they were able to hold a bunch of teams charging at us from behind."

"Fred had an excellent day with an eagle and 3 birdies to shoot 2 under and Caleb was solid all day carding 2 birdies on the afternoon. I think what we learned from this event is that we are playing well and  we are we are one of the nation's best teams and I think Knocking off 4 nationally ranked  teams this week is only going to help build our confidence down the stretch."

"Killian obviously having one of the best rounds in school history with the 66 Monday afternoon and the -5 team round is one of the best ever recorded in Cobra golf history what we do know is that round could have been very very good. Also, I would like to give props to Johnny today for having birdies on his last 2 holes, which was crucial, and to Finn for steadying the ship after a rough stretch heading into his last 4 holes. We look forward to getting back out there next week at Greenwood Country Club with another chance to bring home a victory."
