HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College head men's golf coach Adam Goins announced the signing of Rhett Merritt to the 2017-18 roster.

"We could not be happier about adding Rhett to our family," said Goins. "He is an unbelievable competitor and a very well-rounded player."

Merritt comes to Coker from Wren High School where he lettered in basketball and golf for the Hurricanes. On the links, the Easley, S.C. native is a five-year member of the golf team, a four-time all-region selection, two-time runner-up in the 3A State Tournament and is ranked No. 14 in the latest South Carolina Junior Golf Association rankings.

Off the course, he is a member of Beta Club, Spanish National Honors Society and National Honors Society.

"Rhett is the ideal student-athlete we look for here, not only at Coker, but for our golf program," said Goins. "He will represent Coker the right way on and off the course."

He is the son of Gina and Tripp Merritt and plans on majoring in business.
