Strong Second Round Lands Coker in Eighth after Day One

NINETY SIX, S.C. – The Coker College men's golf team shot a two round total of 599 (+23) during the first day of the Bearcat Golf Classic. After first round total of 310 (+22), the men found themselves in 15th place. But an afternoon round of 289 (+1) vaulted the Cobras up the leaderboard to eighth heading into the final 18 holes.

Leading the Navy and Yellow was freshman Will Bundy who fired rounds of 76 and 73 for total of 149 (+5). He finds himself in a tie for 19th after day one. Junior Christopher Fuga and senior Josh Clay both shot two round totals of 151 (+7). Fuga shot rounds of 76 and 75. Clay shot rounds of 85 and 66. Clay's 66 was not only the low round of the tournament, but low round of the season for Coker and the second lowest round in Coker men's golf history. Sophomore Blake Baysden shot a two round total of 152 (+8) after rounds of 77 and 75. Junior Zane Price rounded out the starting lineup with rounds of 81 and 75 for a 156 (+12) two round total.

Georgia College and State University is the team leader with a 583 (+7) 36 hole total. Fredrik Lindblom of Clayton State is the day one leader after shooting 138 (-6) on the 7133 yard, par 72 Patriot Course at Grand Harbor.

The Cobras will tee it up tomorrow morning to finish the final 18 holes.
