Cobra Men Finish Fifth at Carolina Sands

WHITE LAKE, N.C. – Four Cobra golfers finished in the top 20, leading Coker to a fifth place finish at the 2012 Carolina Sands Invitational. As a team the Cobras shot a team score of 294 (+6) in the final round of play on Sunday.

Wingate University took home the championship with UNC Pembroke finishing second, Barton College came in third and Mount Olive College placed fourth.

Christopher Fuga (Phoenixville, Pa.) shot a 71 (-1) in the final round and placed 12th overall, while Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) shot a 73 (+1) and Jared Crane (Greenville, S.C.) shot a 74 (+2) in the second round; both finished in a tie for 19th overall.

Diego Polo (Guatemala) and Josh Clay (Stark County, Ohio) rounded out the field for the Cobras with scores of 76 (+4) and 78 (+6) respectively.

Coker will now prepare to take on the rest of the Conference Carolinas in the 2012 Conference Carolinas Men's Golf Tournament on April 22-24 hosted by Belmont Abbey College in Vass, N.C. at the Maple Golf Course at Woodlake.
