Cobra Men Ready for Magnolia Invitational

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – This week the Coker men's golf team will head to Orangeburg, S.C. to play in the inaugural Magnolia Invitational. They will play 54 holes over two days of competition on the recently renovated Orangeburg Country Club.  The tournament, hosted by Newberry College, will begin on Monday.

The rest of the field consists of No. 9 UNC Pembroke, No. 17 USC Aiken, No. 19 Carson Newman, No. 25 Barton, Clayton State, West Georgia, Lander and St. Andrews Presbyterian.

Junior Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) and sophomores Josh Clay (Stark County, Ohio) and Matt Kreider (Westlake, Ohio) were exempted through qualifying due to their t-30th and t-35th finishes at The Pirate Invitational.  The remaining Cobras were placed into a weather shortened 27-hole qualifier to determine the final two spots of the traveling squad.

After the qualifier it was freshmen Luke Coates (Florence, S.C.) and Christopher Fuga (Phoenixville, Pa.) that earned the right to play in Magnolia Invitational.
