CLEMMONS, N.C. – The Coker golf team is in fourth place after the first round of play at the 2010 Conference Carolinas Golf Championship at the par 70 Tanglewood Country Club (Championship Course) in Clemmons, N.C. The Cobras (304, +24) are just 11 strokes back of the leaders, Barton College (293, +13) and host Belmont Abbey College (293, +13) and they are just three shots back of third place St. Andrews Presbyterian College (301, +21).

Leading the Cobras individually is Jay Goldenberg (Toronto, Ontario) with a four over 74, putting him in a tie for eighth place, while Jared Crane (Greer, S.C.) shot a five over 75. Chris Marsh (Georgetown, S.C.) shot a seven over 77 to start the tournament and Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) and Ben Conroy (Durham, Conn.) each shot eight over 78.

Coker takes to the links on Monday for the second round of the three round tournament. Tee times begin at 9:20 a.m.
