Kiawah Island, S.C. – After their first round of play in the 2009 season, the Cobra golf team is just seven strokes off the mark, placing them in eighth with a score of 298 (+10) at the Kiawah Island Invitational. Leading the field of 15 teams is Georgia College and State with a score of 291 (+3), followed by Indianapolis at 292 (+4) and North Alabama at 293 (+5).

Individually, sophomore Diego Polo (Guatemala City, Guatemala) is in second place after firing a first round 70 (-2), leaving him four strokes back of the leader Seth Fair (Indianapolis) 66 (-6). John LaDow (Pottstown, Pa.) shot an opening round of 75 (+3) and Jay Goldenberg (Toronto, Ontario) shot 76 (+4) for the Cobras. Chris Marsh (Georgetown, S.C.) finished up with a 77 (+5) and Patrick Kirby (Paris, Ontario) rounded out the Coker golfers with a 79 (+7).

The Cobras return to the links on Tuesday for the final round of play at the par 72 Cougar Point Golf Course on Kiawah Island.
