Orlando, FL- After shooting a first round team score of 280 (-8), St. Edward’s University, has a slim one shot lead over Florida Southern, 281 (-7), in the 3rd Annual Coker College Invitational Golf Tournament at Orange County National. Following in a close third are Barry University and Columbus State University at 283 (-5), while Georgia College and State University is not out of the hunt yet either at 287 (-1), giving the field five teams under par on the par 72, 6849 yard Panther Lake Course at Orange County.

Individually, 25 of the 105 golfers are under par, with St. Edward’s Matt Smith leading the way with a six under 66. He is followed by four players just two strokes back with four under 68’s and another three with three under 69’s.

For Coker, freshman AJ Sanders (Hartsville, SC) leads the way in a tie for ninth with a two under 70. He is followed by Chris Marsh (Georgetown, SC) with a 73 (+1), while Stephen Thomson (Bracebridge, Ontario) shot a 74 (+2). Rounding out the field for the Cobras were Ben Lasso (Falls Church, VA) 77 (+5) and Benoit Gordon (Montreal, Quebec) 78 (+6). As a team Coker is tied for 13th with a 294 (+6).

The Coker Invitational will play it’s final round on Tuesday, with the first teams teeing off at 7:30 p.m. on holes one and ten of the Panther Lake Course.
