Men's Basketball Drops Conference Contest at Tusculum on Saturday

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Coker University men's basketball team dropped its South Atlantic Conference contest at Tusculum on Saturday (Feb. 22) by a score of 71-59.

Tusculum led 6-2 through one media timeout, before the teams went back and forth through the next media timeout as Tusculum held a 16-13 lead with 10 and a half minutes to play. The teams played to a 20-20 tie with seven minutes left, before Coker took a six-point lead with under five minutes to play in the first half. Coker would hold a 31-26 lead at the half.

Tusculum came out in the second half to take a 32-31 lead through the first media timeout, before the teams played to a 37-37 tie with 13 and a half minutes left. Tusculum would build a seven-point lead with 10 minutes left, before stretching the lead into double digits with six and a half minutes to play. Tusculum would keep the Cobras at a distance until the final horn.

Chandler Lindsey led the Cobras with 22 points on the day, while Williams Onyeodi also scored 10 points. Six other Cobras scored in the game. Dakota Jennings led the Cobras with five rebounds on the day, while three different Cobras had three rebounds each in the game. Three other Cobras were active on the glass in the contest. Lindsey dished out a team-high five assists in the game, while three other Cobras helped on Cobra buckets. Malcolm Kennedy led the Cobras with three steals, while Onyeodi also had two steals in the game. Jennings and Jaylin Stewart each had one steal on the day. AJ McQuaige posted two blocks on the day, while Jennings and Lindsey had one each.

Coker is back on the hardwood on Wednesday (Feb. 26) to travel to Newberry in South Atlantic Conference play. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
