Cobras Host Wolves on Senior Night

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will take Dan Schmotzer Court in the DeLoach Center for the final this season on Wednesday (Feb. 22) to host the visiting Newberry College Wolves in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Opening tip is set for 8 p.m. with live stats and video available at www.cokercobras.com

The Cobras are coming off a 101-96 win over Mars Hill University on Saturday (Feb. 18).

Jake Barrett comes in leading the way for the Cobras on the offensive end, averaging 11.7 points per contest and 22 points per game over his last two games. Nathan Lemke and Miguel Priest come in averaging 9.3 points per game, while Lemke is pulling down 6.6 rebounds per game and Priest is averaging 5.8 rebounds. Lemke also ranks first in three-point percentage in the SAC, shooting 50.9 percent from distance. He also ranks No. 13 in the SAC in field-goal percentage, shooting 51.2 percent from the floor.

As a team, Coker ranks in the top 15 in NCAA Division II in forced turnovers per game, total steals and steals per game. On average, the Cobras are forcing 17.96 turnovers per game, ranking them eleventh in NCAA DII. The Navy and Gold have also swiped a total of 233 steals this season for a 9 steals per game average, ranking fifteenth in NCAA DII in both categories.

The Wolves enter Wednesday with a 16-10 overall record and an 11-9 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. Five players are averaging over 10 points per game for Newberry, led by the 14 points per contest of James Stepp.

Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m. at the DeLoach Center. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
