Sharpshooting Eagles Knock Off Cobras in SAC Action

JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – The Coker College men's basketball team fell to the Carson-Newman University Eagles 88-73 in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday (Jan. 16).

The Cobras allowed a season-high 88 points, on 52.6 percent shooting in the road matchup.

On the offensive end, it was a tale of two halves for the Navy and Gold. They scored just 19 points on 21.2 percent shooting in the opening half and then rebounded with 54 points in the second half on 56.4 percent shooting.

Aubrey Daniel led Coker in scoring for the third straight game, pouring in 19 points, with 15 of his points coming from behind the arc. He also pulled down five rebounds and dished out four assists. Stefan Osborne finished with 12 points, all of which came from downtown. Rounding out the starting lineup, Donte Samuels had nine points and six rebounds, Jalen Watson had eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds and Trey Marshall chipped in seven points.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Jan, 20) when they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne for a SAC matchup. Tip is set for 8 p.m.
