Cobras and Lions Clash in Weekend SAC Matchup

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will be back at home on Saturday (Jan. 9) to take on the visiting Mars Hill University Lions at 4 p.m. in a South Atlantic Conference showdown. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras picked up an 81-66 win over Tusculum College the last time they were in the friendly confines of the DeLoach Center and will be looking to improve on a 2-2 home record in front of the Coker faithful.

Donte Samuels continues to lead the Navy and Gold offensively, posting 19.3 points per game on 49 percent shooting from the field. He has managed to score in double figures every game he has played, including scoring 15 or more in six of eight appearances. Trey Marshall is averaging 11 points per game this season and will be looking to replicate the 30-point outburst he had last game in Hartsville. As a unit, the Cobra defense is allowing a conference-low 66.7 points per game.

The Lions travel to Hartsville with an overall record of 5-8 and a SAC record of 1-6. They are led by the scoring quartet of Justin Yeargin, Micheal Carson, Patrick Monroe and Tyree Griffin, all of who are averaging above 10 points per game.

Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 9) at Coker College's DeLoach Center. Tickets are $15 dollars for reserved seats, $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free for all Coker students, faculty and staff.
