HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Senior guard Trey Marshall poured in a career-high 30 points in the Coker College men's basketball team's 81-66 South Atlantic Conference victory over the visiting Tusculum College Pioneers on Saturday (Dec. 19).

Marshall's offensive outburst began immediately after the opening tip, scoring 14 points in the first four and half minutes giving Coker an early 19-8 cushion. The Cobras continued the solid play on both ends of the floor, stretching the lead to 14 multiple times in the first half. However, a late 9-3 run by Tusculum to close the half left the Cobras with just an eight-point lead at the half.

The Navy and Gold extended its lead back to 12 with 13:51 left in the game, but the Pioneers would respond with another run. An 11-2 Tusculum run over the next three minutes would cut the Coker lead to just 51-48 with 10:30 left on the clock. The Cobras outscored Pioneers down the stretch 30-18 to secure the 81-66 wire-to-wire victory.

Marshall led all scorers with 30 points and four rebounds. He shot 8-11 from the field, 3-4 from behind the arc and 11-13 from the charity stripe. Donte Samuels poured in 14 points and pulled down six rebounds off the bench. Aubrey Daniel finished with 11 points, while Trey James registered a team-high eight rebounds.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 6) when they travel to Wingate for a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader. Tip is set for 8 p.m.
