Cobras Drop Exhibition to UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team fell 93-73 to Division I UNC Wilmington on Wednesday (Dec. 2) evening in an exhibition matchup. 

The Cobras jumped out to a 6-2 advantage in the first four minutes and after both teams traded buckets, Coker held a two-point 13-11 lead with 12:40 left in the half. The Seahawks responded with a 10-0 run over the next two minutes to take a 21-13 lead. The Navy and Gold managed to cut the deficit to just two with eight minutes to go in the half, however UNCW used a late burst offensively to take a 45-33 lead into the locker room at half.

The Seahawks exploded out of the gates to start the second half, opening up their lead to 22 points with 15 minutes left. Down 59-37, the Cobras went on an impressive 16-4 run to cut the deficit to just 10 with 11 minutes left. UNCW used a late run of its own to seal the 93-73 victory.  

Trey Marshall led the way with 16 points and eight rebounds. Jalal Abdul-Azeez finished with 12 points, while the duo of Jalen Watson and Aubrey Daniel finished with a double-double. Watson scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, Daniel recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds.  

The Cobras will be back on the road on Saturday (Dec. 5) to take on Lincoln Memorial University. Tip is set for 4 p.m.
