Cobras and Bears Square Off in Pivotal SAC Matchup

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The stakes will be high Wednesday (Feb. 5) night when the Coker men's basketball team welcomes the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University to the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium for a South Atlantic Conference matchup. The season is slowly winding down and the two teams are anxious to improve their current positions in the tightly contested SAC standings. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. with a live webcast available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras enter the game 10-8 overall and 7-7 in conference, which is currently good for a two-way tie for seventh place with Queens University of Charlotte. Julian Nelson's 17.6 points per game leads five players averaging double figures for Coker this season. Over the last seven games Nelson has averaged 22 points per outing. Larry Felder and Teon Beckett have averaged 12.7 and 10.7 points, while pulling down 5.7 and 6.2 boards per game, respectively. Trey Marshall and Errick Bethel average 10.7 and 10.1 points per game off the bench, respectively.

The Bears enter the game 10-8 overall with a 9-5 record in conference play. Lenoir-Rhyne's current three-game winning streak has propelled them into a four-way tie for third place in the SAC. R.j. McClure and Will Perry will be the focal point of the Bears' offense as the duo averages 18.8 and 12.3 points per game, respectively.

Tickets for Wednesday night's game can be purchased at the door for $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and are free to all Coker students, faculty, and staff. It will also be Hartsville High Night, with all Hartsville High students, faculty, and staff  receiving free admission to the games with proper school ID.
