Coker Falls to No. 8 Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, TENN. – Julian Nelson and Eren Moses combined for 46 of Coker's 81 points in the Cobras' 95-81 loss to nationally ranked No. 8 Lincoln Memorial on Saturday (Feb. 1) night in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action. The Cobras are now 10-7 overall and 7-7 in conference play.

Nelson scored a game high 25 points and pulled down six rebounds, while Moses put in a season high 21 points and grabbed four boards. Also scoring in double figures for the Cobras was Trey Marshall with 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.

The Railsplitters took the lead from the start and never relinquished it. The Cobras battled back and thanks to a lay-up by Donte Samuels cut the lead to just two, 34-32, with eight minutes left in the first half. LMU put on an 18-10 run to close out the half and take a 52-42 advantage into halftime.

The Cobras continued to fight during the second half, but they were unable to overcome the Railsplitters.

Coker finished the game shooting 42 percent from the field. They scored 20 points off the bench and converted 11 LMU turnovers into 14 points.

The Cobras will return to the hardwood on Wednesday (Feb. 5) for a home game against Lenoir-Rhyne University. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. following the women's game at 6 p.m. Wednesday night will Hartsville High Night at the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium, with all Hartsville High faculty, staff and students receiving free admission to the games with proper ID.
