Cobras Host Wolves in Pivotal SAC Matchup

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's basketball team will host the Newberry Wolves in South Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday (Jan. 22) night in the friendly confines of the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip and will be broadcast live on www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are 8-6 overall with a 5-5 conference record and currently sit four games back of first place. Julian Nelson continues to be the Cobras go-to scorer with his 16.8 points per game. The senior has averaged 24 points in the last three games while shooting 46 percent from behind the arc. Larry Felder and Teon Beckett continue to be solid contributors for the navy and yellow as well. The duo is averaging 12.8 and 11.3 points, while pulling down 5.5 and 6.1 rebounds per game, respectively.

Newberry is 11-3 overall with a 7-3 SAC mark, but are a subpar 3-2 on the road this season. The duo of Dondray Walker and Demarkus Smith average 17.4 and 16.1 points per game, which leads a pack of seven Wolves that score eight or more points per contest.

Wednesday's game will also be Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night. Members of the Coker College faculty and staff will receive a free t-shirt at the game, along with drinks and popcorn.
